Vinyl Wrap, PPF & Window Tinting FAQs — Pretoria

We offer five core services: vinyl wrapping (partial and full), paint protection film (PPF), ceramic coating, ceramic window tinting, and detail cleaning. All work is done in-house at our studio in Silverton, Pretoria.

A full vehicle wrap typically takes 3–5 days depending on vehicle size and wrap complexity. Partial wraps and accent pieces can often be completed in a single day. We'll give you a more accurate timeline during your consultation.

Partial front coverage (bumper, bonnet, mirrors) usually takes 1–2 days. A full-body PPF installation takes 3–5 days. The film also needs a short curing period before driving — we'll advise you on this at collection.

Most full-vehicle tint jobs are completed in a single day. Drop off in the morning and collect in the afternoon. The tint does need 2–3 days to fully cure — avoid winding your windows down during this period.

A ceramic coating is mostly preparation. Decontamination, a clay bar and machine paint correction take the bulk of the time, then the coating is applied by hand and left to cure. Budget 2–3 days for most vehicles, longer if the paint needs heavier correction.

No — when installed and removed correctly by professionals, vinyl wrapping actually protects your paint. The adhesive is designed to release cleanly without leaving residue or lifting paint, as long as your paint is in good condition beforehand.

Vinyl wrap is primarily cosmetic — it changes or enhances the look of your vehicle. PPF (paint protection film) is a clear, ultra-durable film applied to protect your paint from stone chips, scratches, and road debris. Many clients combine both: PPF for protection on high-impact areas, wrap for the full visual transformation.

They solve different problems. PPF is a physical film roughly 200 microns thick that absorbs stone chips and scratches. Ceramic coating is a liquid layer measured in microns that makes paint slick, glossy and easy to clean, but will not stop a stone chip. It depends on your goals and what the law allows. Under Regulation 202(3) of South Africa's National Road Traffic Regulations, your windscreen must transmit at least 70% of visible light (VLT) and every other window — front sides, rear sides and rear windscreen — must transmit at least 35% VLT. Those figures apply to the glass and film combined, and most factory glass is already slightly tinted, so we measure before recommending a film. Yes, within limits. Regulation 202(3) of the National Road Traffic Regulations requires a minimum of 70% VLT (visible light transmission) through the windscreen and a minimum of 35% VLT through every other window, measured on the glass and film together in accordance with SABS 1191. Full body wraps start from R16,800. Partial wraps are priced at R1,100 per square metre. Custom colour-shift and specialty finishes start from R25,000. Our ceramic packages are R1,899 for the 6-Month Ceramic, R3,899 for the 3-Year Ceramic and R4,899 for the 5-Year Ceramic, priced per vehicle. Larger vehicles and paint that needs heavier correction can carry an adjustment, so send us photos on WhatsApp or book a free inspection and we will confirm your price in writing — see the ceramic coating page for what each package includes.

Yes, we require a deposit to secure your booking date. The deposit amount will be confirmed when you book. This goes toward your final invoice and ensures your slot and materials are reserved.

We accept EFT and cash. Payment details will be confirmed at the time of booking. Please note we do not accept card payments on-site.

Hand washing is preferred over automatic car washes. Use a pH-neutral car shampoo and avoid high-pressure jets directly on the film edges. Don't use wax on matte or satin finishes — use a wrap-specific detailer instead. Keep the wrap clean and it can last 5–7 years.

Wait at least 7 days after installation before washing. Hand wash only for the first two weeks. After that, regular washing is fine — PPF is low-maintenance by design. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvent-based cleaners, or abrasive polishes on the film.

Wash every two to three weeks with a pH-neutral shampoo using the two-bucket method, and dry with a clean microfibre towel. Avoid automatic brush washes and never use abrasive polishes, which will cut into the coating. No — keep your windows up for at least 3 days after installation. The film needs time to cure and bond to the glass. Winding down too early can cause the edges to peel or the film to shift. You may also notice some haze or small water bubbles during this period — these are normal and will disappear as the film cures.

With proper care, a quality vinyl wrap lasts 5–7 years. Longevity depends on how well the vehicle is maintained, sun exposure, and whether a protective sealant is applied. Vehicles kept in a garage or under cover will see longer wrap life — see our full guide on how long a vinyl wrap lasts.

Standard dyed films can fade purple over time. We use ceramic film, which does not fade, does not turn purple, and maintains its performance for years. Our ceramic film also comes with a lifetime warranty against fading, peeling, and bubbling.

We're open Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00. Saturdays are by appointment only and we're closed on Sundays. Public holidays are by appointment.

For most jobs, especially wraps and PPF, you'll need to drop your vehicle off for the day or multiple days. Smaller jobs like a basic detail or rear-window tint can sometimes be done while you wait. We'll advise you at the time of booking.

Give it a basic wash beforehand if possible — a clean car helps us assess the paintwork and get straight to work. Remove any personal belongings from the interior if booking a detail or if panels need to be removed for wrapping. We'll handle everything else from there.
